The region is quickly establishing itself as a sports tourism destination, staging world-class events from the Abu Dhabi F1 to the Dubai World Cup – the richest horse race in the world. Meanwhile, destinations such as Oman are carving out a niche in the adventure sports tourism market. What are the key benefits of staging sporting events – both large and small – and how can the region further capitalise on these events and its sporting facilities to draw in more leisure and business tourism to the region?
