Press Releases
Press releases should be written in a professional style and should be news-worthy, informative and relevant to the Middle East and your participation at Arabian Travel Market 2012. Do not wait until the last minute to start communication with the media.
Please include any Middle East relevant market research results or industry figures where applicable. Do insure these come from reliable sources which will need to be credited.
Ensure all your communications are in English and classical GCC Arabic. More than 65% of the Middle East’s media outlets are Arabic.
Be considerate of cultural sensitivities. Please refrain from mentioning alcohol, religion or matters sexual in nature.
Arabian Travel Market has a year long PR campaign, which we invite you to be a part of. Please keep our agency, Shamal Marketing Communications (
nathalie@smc-pr.com
) abreast of all your developments, possible product launches at the show, exhibition plans etc… so they may consider them for use in their press releases. Again we would advise you to start this process as early as possible.
Photos & Videos
Please provide high resolution quality photographs (jpeg format, 300 dpi and should be between 500kb and 1MB) via email or on a USB. PDF, Power Point and other similar formats will not be accepted by the media.
When sending images please ensure you respect cultural sensitivities; in doubt please feel free to contact our PR agency, Shamal Marketing Communications.
Please ensure any VNRs and other footage which you intend to distribute are in both English and Arabic. Also, please ensure the editorial content is news worthy, adverts and self-promotional pieces will not be accepted. Please ensure that the footage is high definition.
Onsite & General Info
You will be able to distribute your press packs in the media centre where special display racks will be available. Please use these to place all your media communications in as they will be regularly checked by the press. We would advise you to check back daily to replenish the racks if need be. The press centre will be located in the Fujairah rooms on the mezzanine floor above hall 7.
During the show, please take the time to meet the local media. Getting to know the key journalists will help in getting your news across.
If you are holding a press conference or launch during the show, please make sure English and Arabic invitations are emailed to the media a week before and email a copy of the invitation to Shamal Marketing Communications in order to be included in the overall media schedule. In addition, a hard copy should be placed on the dedicated information boards in the onsite press centre and available in the display racks.
Please remember that when doing an interview with an Arabic TV station or print media, they would prefer to speak to someone in their native tongue. If you have an Arabic spokesperson, please endeavour to try and make them available where possible.
Please keep our PR agency Shamal Marketing Communications (
nathalie@smc-pr.com
) informed of any on-site events the media would be interested in attending to ensure they are added to the media schedule. Once again, please give us all relevant information and inform us of your announcements as far in advance as possible to maximise your media attendance.
