Tips on addressing the media

  • Arabian Travel Market as an event may only be four days but there is a year-long marketing campaign.  Make sure your company is part of it by keeping our PR Agency Shamal Marketing Communications (SMC) informed of your companies developments and product launches.

    Plan how to promote your brand before and during Arabian Travel Market with our useful tips on how to make the most of the PR opportunities available to you.

  • Pre-Show

    • Upload your press releases to your online enhanced directort. This feeds onto the media page of the website which is a hub for intermational media.

    • Book an advert in the Show Daily (rose.dsouza@npimedia.com), The Official Catalogue (matthew.mcmullan@itp.com), Inside ATM (parminder.johal@ltmpublications.com) and ATM 20th Anniversary Publication (ka@ainalmusafer.com) by 5th April to showcase your new products and announchements. Make sure you put your stand number on it to inform visitors where you will be situated at the show.

    • Book a Press Conference by 11th April - with the key industry players at Arabian Travel Market, what better place to launch new products, services and announce news. Limited conference slots are available so book early at US$1250.

    • Inform us of any onsite events or launches - inform SMC of any events or launches you plan to host onsite so they can add it to the media agenda.

    • Join our new media forums - Twitter (#ATMDubai). Linkedin and Facebook.
  • Onsite & General Info

    • Place media packs in the Media Centre - Racking will be provided for your media packs which are used by the 900 international media - please replenish these daily.  The Media Centre is located between Hall 3 and Sheikh Saeed Hall 1.

     

    • Meet the local media during the show - getting to know the key journalists will help you get more coverage.

     

    • Holding a press conference or launch during the show - email English and Arabic invitations to the media one week before the show and email a copy to josse@smc-pr.com to be included in the overall media schedule. Also place a hard copy on the racking in the Media Centre.

     

    • Doing an interview with an Arabic TV station or print media - they would prefer to speak to someone in their native tongue.  If you have an Arabic spokesperson try to make them available where possible.

     

    • Keep us informed to maximise your media attendance - email our PR agency Shamal Marketing Communications (josse@smc-pr.com) and inform them of any on-site events/announcements the media would be interested in attending to ensure they are added to the media schedule.
  • Press Releases

    • Establish your key messages - there should be no more than three key messages. They need to be news-worthy, informative and relevant to the Middle East and your participation at Arabian Travel Market 2013.

    • The media love statistics so include any Middle East relevant market research results or industry figures where applicable. Do ensure these come from reliable sources which will need to be credited.


    • Ensure all your communications are in English and classical GCC Arabic. More than 65% of the Middle East’s media outlets are Arabic.


    • Be considerate of cultural sensitivities. Please refrain from mentioning alcohol, religion or matters sexual in nature.

     

  • Photos & Videos

    • Please provide high resolution quality photographs (jpeg format, 300 dpi and should be between 500kb and 1MB) via email or on a USB. PDF, Power Point and other similar formats will not be accepted by the media.


    • When sending images please ensure you respect cultural sensitivities.


    • Please ensure any VNRs and other footage which you intend to distribute are in both English and Arabic and high definition. Also, please ensure the editorial content is news worthy, adverts and self-promotional pieces will not be accepted.
