HRH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed opens Arabian Travel Market
At midday the 20th edition of Arabian Travel Market opened its doors.
Tourism professionals from around the world flooded in to take advantage of this unique opportunity to unlock business potential within the Middle East’s inbound and outbound markets.
Exhibitors on show…
Day 1 of this 4-day event did not disappoint. More than 2700 exhibitors from across the globe were on display, presenting a comprehensive range of products and destinations across the entire travel industry.
Knowledge is power…
An outstanding line-up of experts kicked off the ATM Events Programme this morning and began addressing the industry’s most important issues.
Big names featured in the ATM Seminar Theatre; President of Emirates, Tim Clark and Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce provided a great insight into their first few weeks working together and both carriers’ vision for the future in their Emirates/Qantas co-operation.

Highlights from day 1’s event programme also included:
- An insightful look at the past, present and future of the UAE in the Now, Then & Tomorrow session.
- The popular eLearning session helped travel agents understand how they can boost sales via online training.
- Lonely Planet sharing the UAEs best bits outside of Abu Dhabi and Dubai over at the Destination Briefing Theatre.

Buyers, buyers, buyers…
Buyers were a key focus on day 1. The event welcomed hundreds of Buyers Club members from every type of company in the leisure travel sector, all of whom have direct purchasing responsibility.
In addition, 150 buyers from the Hosted Delegate programme met, networked and concluded deals with exhibitors throughout the morning in the pre-scheduled appointments session.

A touch of luxury…
Luxury travel was on the agenda this afternoon. The ILTM@ATM Appointments session saw exhibitors operating in luxury sector matched with relevant luxury buyers. The outcome was a buzzing and productive session that will surely lead to valuable business deals.
Attention then turned to Luxury Spa. The ‘What Makes a First Class, New Generation Spa?’ session revealed how some of the world’s top spa hotels create sensory experiences for their guests and elevate their therapists and treatments to the highest level.

The TTN & Arabian Travel Market Passport Competition 2013 also got underway. Travel Agents, along with their ATM passports, toured participating exhibitor stands to learn more about their products and for the chance to win some impressive prizes.
