At midday today Arabian Travel Market opened its doors.
Tourism professionals from around the world flooded in, for the 22nd edition of the event, to take advantage of this unique opportunity to unlock business potential within the Middle East’s inbound and outbound markets.
An outstanding line-up of experts kicked off the ATM Events Programme this morning and began addressing the industry’s most important issues.
First up was The Big Event, the session gave an insightful look at destination’s strategies and management of major events, such as Expo 2020 and the 2022 FIFA World Cup that are coming up in the UAE and Qatar.
Following the session we spoke to Richard Dean of Dubai Eye 103.8FM who talks host city strategy and legacy for major events:
Aviation and Family Travel were also in the spotlight today, the seminar theatre firstly welcomed Martin Bentrott, VP at Boeing for an open and honest Q&A session, followed by big names including Facebook and YouGov talking Family Travel later in the afternoon.
Exhibitors on show…
Day 1 of this 4-day event did not disappoint. More than 3000 exhibitors from across the globe were on display, presenting a comprehensive range of products and destinations across the entire travel industry.

Travel Technology is one of ATM’s fastest growing zones
Opening day at ATM 2015 saw ATM’s fastest growing sector, Travel Technology, brought together into a single event as The Travel Tech Show at ATM.
Throughout today and over the next three days the RateGain Travel Technology Theatre will welcome speakers from the likes of Google, Digital Tourism Think Tank, Genesys, Amadeus and Travelport to name just a few.
Meanwhile, as always, the Travel Tech Region is packed with all of the industry’s biggest travel tech names such as Sabre. Earlier today we spoke to Joakim Everstin, Head of Sabre Innovations, EMEA to find out why they are here and have chosen to be ATM’s Innovation Technology Partner this year, here is what he/she had to say:
